Our association with the Icelandic Sheepdog International Committee (ISIC) (http://www.icelanddogs.com/ISIC.html) has opened the door to our participation in the international community of Icelandic Sheepdog (ISD) clubs. Working with these clubs, we have discovered exceptional information that has previously been unavailable in English.
We are excited to announce that we are currently working hard to translate three articles written by Dr. Per-Erik Sundgren. Dr. Sundgren has completed extensive study with the ISIC regarding breeding issues specifically related to the ISD. He has generously allowed us to use the articles and publish them. The process of translation takes some time and we send everything back to him prior to publication to insure that we do not inadvertantly change meaning during translation.
Dr. Sundgren developed a data base that contains over 8000 ISDs used in his studies for the ISIC. We hope to have the other articles ready for publication very soon as they contain the most relevant information and scientific study available regarding the breeding of the ISD worldwide.
Analysis of Breeding with the Icelandic Sheepdog and The Icelandic Sheepdog: Effective Population Size and Future Breeding.
The ISAA is indebted to Dr. Sundgren and member Holly Kilpatrick for their tremendous assistance with this project. Please enjoy the articles. We welcome your feedback and encourage you to contact the ISAA Board of Directors at isaabod@gmail.com
