It is critical that when considering purchasing an import, one does some homework in regards to the pedigree and origins of the
dog. For many reasons, it is important to consider the entire pedigree including health information and any available photographs
or show analysis, temperament testing or other available information.
Some of you may not be familiar with the wonderful database that the Icelandic Kennel Club makes available. It is a secure data
base for pedigrees and all information there is carefully analyzed and verified prior to admitting it into that database.
We encourage you to utilize this tool to learn more about the origins of your dog(s). For instance, you can find Perla frá
Ólafsvöllum, my first ISD, in the database in Iceland: http://www.iseyjar.is/um_hund.php?id=2960. Her pedigree number is:
IS00002/72. She is and will always be officially registered within HRFÍ and also the FCI system.
You can use the website www.iseyjar.is to hunt down such pedigrees if you are interested. All information in that system comes
directly from HRFÍ, the Icelandic Kennel Club.
There are many tremendous tools like this one that are available. If you would like to learn about more official and secure sources for information about ISDs,
please visit the links page on the ISAA website. Our international community of ISIC breeders can be found there and are just a click away.
