| The AKC Board of Directors voted "to approve the Icelandic Sheepdog Association of America as the official parent club for the Icelandic Sheepdog and to accept the Icelandic Sheepdog into the AKC Stud Book on June 1, 2010. The breed will be eligible to compete in the Herding Group beginning June 30, 2010." The ISAA is the AKC Parent Club for the Icelandic Sheepdog in the United States. As of July 1, 2008, the ISAA is in the AKC Misc. Class and we are moving towards full AKC acceptance. We presently meet all of the requirements for full acceptance and have been invited to apply by the AKC as of July 1, 2009. We continue to grow as a club. Member participation in AKC events is strong and we look forward to participating as full AKC partners in the near future. Our AKC studbook includes 652 three generation Icelandic Sheepdogs. Towards this end, the ISAA is dedicated to serving the best interest of the Icelandic Sheepdog through increasing public awareness, establishing a resource network, and promoting proper husbandry and breeding practices of the Icelandic Sheepdog in America. |

| The Board of Directors and Membership of the Icelandic Sheepdog Association of America (ISAA) welcomes you to our website. We welcome and encourage nonmembers who are interested in learning about the breed or are considering bringing an Icelandic Sheepdog into their lives to join the ISAA. Members receive special bulletins, the ISAA Newsletter, annual reports and can access the knowledge held by longtime members and those sharing lives with this amazing breed in the ISAA discussion group. If you are considering adding an Icelandic Sheepdog to your family, the small investment, equal to one meal out, will provide you with fantastic information. The commitment to a dog is for a lifetime and a purebred dog is a large financial investment. We encourage you to make a small investment prior to making this commitment by joining the ISAA.
