Health and Genetics Committee

The Board of Directors of the Icelandic Sheepdog Association and its Health and Genetics
Committee are dedicated to the betterment of the health of our breed, the keeping of accurate
health records and the maintaining of the confidence of our membership.  Therefore the Health
and Genetics Commitee and BOD will only share:
health issues from publically documented sources, these include but are not limited to CERF,
OFA, PennHip, ISIC Member Clubs Annual Reports
health issues that have not been publically documented but that either owner or breeder has
given explicit instructions that they will be allowed to be shared, these include but are not
limited to Veterinary diagnosis or Necropsy Reports.  At a members request the specific name
of the affected dog can or may be withheld.

The Health and Genetics committee will:
neither traffic or present rumor as fact
draw conclusions on the health information presented to those who inquire.

Titles and Events
The purpose of this group is two-fold: to keep track of all of the titles our Icelandics and members earn
and to keep a record of all Events our Icelandics and members attend.

Explanation: -
Titles: -
The AKC allowed us to participate in all Companion Events and Herding trials starting in the summer of
2006. Members are beginning to accumulate titles. At the very least, the AKC titles should be stored in our
main data base, BreedMate
and shared with the AKC when we apply for full acceptance.

Members are also active in many other organizations that also award titles including but not limited to the
UKC, CKC, ARBA, FORB, NADAC, TDI, etc. Information on all titles earned will be  available through the ISAA
website.
This information will be shared with the AKC as we continue to seek full acceptance.

The task of this committee would be to list our Icelandics and titles they have earned, to list the organizations
that
awarded the titles and to list the titles by name and abbreviation. They should also decide if titles other than
AKC titles
should be stored in BreedMate or a separate all-inclusive data base. Space is limited in BreedMate.

Events: -
The other main task of this committee is to keep track of all of the events our dogs and members attend.
Doing this is one of the requirements that AKC has established for us in order to achieve full recognition.
We submitted a list when we applied for permission to enter Companion and Herding Events.
The list needs to be continuously updated as our members show and show off their dogs around the country
