| ISAA Annual Registration Lists Breeder and Buyer Information As a requirement for our breed’s acceptance by the American Kennel Club (AKC) we keep annual registration lists. More importantly we keep our lists for our members to use. Any ISAA member can have a copy of our registration records by asking. Access to AKC records can be somewhat limited. Our best source for information about our Icelandic Sheepdogs is our own records. The usefulness and value of our records depends on all of us who love Icies. We each contribute information on our own dogs and in turn we have access to information on the dogs of others to help us choose companions for ourselves or mates for our dogs. Before you buy a dog whether it will be your companion or a mate for one of your dogs, check with the Tracking Chair to see if the dog is OK. It is important to realize that there are no perfect dogs. Like humans, our canine companions are all different and come with positive and negative traits. Checking out your dog after the purchase is made is like closing the proverbial barn door after the cows are out. Imported Icies - Once you have imported an ISD, we would like to have its information for BreedMate, our data base. The easiest way to get that information to us is to send a copy of the pedigree via email or snail mail. Once we have that information we may ask for some additional information to beef up our records. We do not care if the dog is intact or spayed or neutered. The information you give us will help all of us. Giving us that information automatically registers your dog with the ISAA. Registration with the ISAA is a free service. You may also choose to register your Icy with one of the official organizations like the American Kennel Club (AKC), the United Kennel Club (UKC), the American Rare Breed Association (ARBA), the Federation of Rare Breeds (FORB), the North American Dog Agility Club (NADAC), etc. Their registration, of course, costs money. There is some registration information on the ISAA website. We can help with those registrations if you would like us to. Once again, please check with us before you import a dog. We can help make your choice a safer one. North American Bred and Born Icies – Every year we ask breeders of all Icelandics in the US and Canada, registered with one of the above organizations or unregistered, to help us with our own ISAA club registrations. We would like everyone who loves the breed to help. From the breeder we need the following information for each litter: The official names of the parents, The official registration numbers of the parents (All dogs in our records are automatically registered with the ISAA and have a number. In addition dogs may have a number from the AKC, the UKC, ARBA, FORB, NADAC etc. Dogs may also not be officially registered with any organization. Some breeders do not believe in registration.), The parents’ health test results, The puppies and their gender, preferably in birth order (We like to know about still-births and genetic issues for the records.), The official registration numbers for the puppies, The names of the adopters of the puppies, Their home provinces or states The above information appears in our yearly registration records. We also like to have the complete address information of the puppy buyers so that we can contact them if there is a health issue that might affect their dog. That information is very useful to breeders seeking mates for their dogs. It is also useful for folks who are interested in buying a puppy who want to see a real live ISD living near them before committing to a purchase. That information does not appear on the annual registration records. Puppies listed for sale on the Puppy Page or adult dogs listed for re-homing on the Rescue Page on the ISAA website have much of the above information readily available to buyers. We believe in visibly posting relevant information on our dogs and puppies. Your continued help is important to the accuracy of our records. To supplement our information we communicate with the national Icy breed clubs in other counties and we access the data bases of organizations like the Canine Eye Registry Foundation (CERF) and the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA).
