“The greatest thing about Prins is that he loves to be loved and gives it back ten fold. He has not a single
aggressive bone in his body and is just a ‘happy guy’.”
This is Prins, a happy, loving guy who was placed in a home of one of our members. He is a neutered, ten
year old male that no one wanted. They don’t know much about his history except that for most of his life,
he was crated all day long while living in an apartment. Thankfully, when his owners accepted they could not
care for Prins, they contacted the ISAA rather than putting him in a shelter.
As a result of his prior living conditions, his elbows are permanently bald and he suffers from arthritis. When
he came to us, he was horribly matted, was running a fever, had a few bad teeth that had to be removed and
required treatment with antibiotics.

As you can see from the picture above, a little bit of love can go a long way. Under that matting, they
discovered a beautiful Icelandic Sheepdog. The greatest thing about Prins is that he loves to be loved and
gives it back ten fold. He has not a single aggressive bone in his body and is just a “happy guy”.

Our Goal

Our goal is to help ISAA Members and rescue organizations place Icelandic Sheepdogs in need of a new
home in the best possible homes. We want both the dog and their new owner to be compatible so that,
whenever possible, their new home is permanent.

Volunteerism Opportunities

As the general population of Icies grows and expands throughout the country the possibility increases that
sometime down the road there will be a need to re-home or rescue one of our dogs. Can you help?
We need your assistance.

If you think you might be able to do any one of the following:

Please contact either the BOD at
isaabod@gmail.com or our Rescue Chair directly at spikeisd@aol.com.

Remember we are all volunteers, giving of our time to help our furry companions. Your BOD and Rescue
Chair will greatly appreciated any assistance you can give.

The Process

So that we can find the best home possible, there are a few things that we need prior to starting our process:

If you have an Icelandic Sheepdog that needs a new home, please read the Foster/Re-Home Guidelines and
complete The Application for ISAA Re-Homing.  Send them directly to me at the email address below.
Both of these documents can be found by clicking on the link at the top of this page. These first steps help us
decide on the best course of action in each case. Most importantly, they guide us as we find the right people
to be matched with the right dog.

This process can take some time, so we ask for your patience as we discover the best course of action in
your individual situation. We are not a shelter. Therefore, in most cases, the dog will remain in your home
until we find an appropriate solution. While we will make every reasonable attempt to place each dog; there
are, of course no guarantees. However, we are committed to helping our beloved dogs whenever that is
possible.
