| Special Project 2008 Photo Album Created by Member JL Costa for Sigriður Pétursdóttir, the Savior of the Breed Sigriður Pétursdóttir is one of three experts on the ISD as identified by HRFI, the Icelandic Kennel Club. However, she is first and foremost known as the savior of the Icelandic Sheepdog. When the breed sat at the brink at extinction, Sigriður worked in concert with Sir Mark Watson and Iceland's School of Veteranary Medicine to breath life bach into the breed. In 2008, she was honored by Iceland's President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson with the Falcon Award for her tremendous achievement and contribution to the cultural heritage of Iceland, the Icelandic Sheepdog. In 2008, one of our members, JL Costa, collected photographs of ISAA ISDs and created a beautiful photo album. The photo album will be hand carried to Sigriður this summer and presented as a gift from the club. We are grateful to JL for her generosity and artful creation of something that will express our gratitude to Sigriður. None of us would have the experience of this wonderful breed if not for Sigriður. We are forever grateful. |
